Break Up: Taylor Swift and Jake Gyllenhaal

A source told PEOPLE, “They’re over. It ended last month.”

According to reports, the two did not spend the holidays and their birthdays together. The rumor that they have broken up started when the actor was not present at Swift’s 21st birthday a few weeks ago. The reason for the split was not revealed.


Swift, 21, and Gyllenhaal, 30, were first reported to be dating some time in October when they were seen together at a taping of “Saturday Night Live.” They were also spotted PDA-ing in New York over Thanksgiving weekend.

Because Swift is famous for writing songs about her love life (She wrote “Back to December” for Taylor Lautner and “Dear John” for John Mayer), fans are wondering if the “Love Story” hit maker would write a new song about the “Prince of Persia” star now that they have split.
